Warners Bay AFL are pleased to announce the completion of the new $1.5million clubhouse and amenities at Feighan Oval, just in time for the 2021 season. Lake Macquarie mayor was onsite following the handover and said local teams and spectators would benefit from the new facilities. “I’m very excited that these facilities are now available for the Lake Macquarie sporting community” Cr Fraser said. The new clubhouse and amenities will be used by participants of both AFL and Cricket, including storerooms, change rooms for both male and female players, public amenities, new canteen and club rooms. The new facilities were made possible through a $300,000 grant from the NSW Government’s Club Grants Category 3 Infrastructure Grant program, combined with $150,000 from AFL NSW/ACT. The remaining costs were funded by local Council.
WBAFL senior Club President, Elizabeth Brown, noted that without the effort of volunteers and committee members, this facility wouldn’t have been possible. “All community clubs work with volunteers and our club is prime example of great leadership and teamwork. We are all looking forward to the 2021 season in the new facilities, not just for our players, but also our competitors and spectators as well.”
The new facilities complement the previous drainage, sandy base soil, turf and lighting projects of our two ovals, giving us some of the best facilities to play and train on.
