In the Black Diamond Cup, Warners Bay welcomed back three of their most influential players, Jack Hardman, Nic Turner and Ben Hunter and in doing so returned to the winners list with a 18.14.122 to 6.7.43 over Wyong Lakes at Feighan Oval.
Whilst the Bulldogs welcomed back players, Wyong Lakes coach Michael Tos had to deal with the late withdrawal of two of their stars in Justin McPhan and Tim Hillman.
After an even first quarter which saw the margin just two points, the Bulldogs gradually got on top extending the lead to 26 points at half time before dominating the second half kicking ten goals to two to win by 79 points.
After years of horrid luck with knee injuries, it was great to see Ryan Sorensen return to his best in an unfamiliar defensive role, with his pinpoint disposal a highlight. He was well supported by new recruit Josh Ranieri, Jack Hardman (five goals) and Riley Warner.
Classy midfielder Chris Koop-Folkes was again a standout for the Magpies with 2017 Granland Medallist, Brayden Tos and debutant Nathan Doyle others to perform well.
This Saturday, our Bulldogs play in the BARTV Match of the Round, away to Nelson Bay.
